What to Expect at Serenity and Sound

Practice · By Good Vibrations Yoga ·

If you’ve never been to a sound bath before, there’s no need to worry. There’s nothing you need to know or prepare for.

We’ll begin with some gentle, accessible movement led by Emily Somers, then get comfortable and settle in while she plays crystal singing bowls, chimes, gong and other instruments. You don’t need any yoga experience, and you don’t need to know any poses.

Getting comfortable

Wear something comfortable that you can easily move and rest in. We have yoga mats and props here at the studio, and you’re also welcome to bring a favorite blanket or pillow if that helps you relax.

Try to arrive 10–15 minutes early so you have plenty of time to get settled. And if you’d rather sit in a chair than lie on a mat, just let us know. We want you to be comfortable.

There’s no right way to do it

You can close your eyes or keep them open. You can change positions whenever you need to. You might find yourself focusing on the sounds, noticing the quiet between them, or simply enjoying a little time to be still.

That’s really it. There’s nothing to accomplish and nothing you’re supposed to feel. Just come as you are and experience it in whatever way feels right for you.
